President and Chief Executive Officer
Christopher Parton was named President and Chief Executive Officer of West Academic in 2013, when the business was acquired by Eureka Growth Capital. He was selected for this role based on more than 20 years of progressive executive experience in legal publishing and higher education at Thomson Reuters. Chris successfully led the transition and re-launch of West Academic as a separate entity with a new leadership team and corporate structure, improved operational efficiencies, and clear organizational/brand identities—all without disrupting customer loyalty. Today, the organization delivers superior financial results by supporting its legacy products while expanding its digital and subscription offerings.
From 2006-2013, Chris spent five years as Vice President and General Manager of West Academic when it was a business unit of Thomson Reuters. He led operations, financials, marketing and sales efforts of three businesses focused on the U.S. law school market, including Legal Education Publishing, Westlaw Student Preference Program, and the Law School Libraries. From 1994 to 2006, he held increasingly responsible positions in the Westlaw division—from Account Manager and Regional Manager to Director, Strategic Marketing.
Chris earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree from the University of Texas School of Law and his BBA in Marketing and Economics from Stephen F. Austin State University.
